Under the High Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Paola
The Universal Marimba Competition, acclaimed as one of the most prestigious in the world since its foundation in 2001, brings together marimba players from around the globe and fosters cross-cultural understanding. Prize winners are helped to launch international careers with endorsement opportunities.
Since 2011, the competition has enjoyed the High Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen, an honour granted to a marimba competition for the first time worldwide.
The next edition will take place from 17 to 27 July 2013 and will include both marimba solo and marimba duo disciplines. Each edition welcomes leading marimba and percussion virtuosos and past laureates as jury members and guest performers at the closing festival.
On the competition website, you can find impressions, results and photographs from all past editions. The background music features marimba music and competition repertoire performed by artistic director Ludwig Albert and released on his latest double album, Global Marimba.
Full details will be announced from March 2012. Visit www.marimbacompetition.com for more information and the results of the 2011 edition.
We hope you enjoy visiting the website and look forward to welcoming you to Belgium from 17 to 27 July 2013—a place to meet and share our passion for the marimba.
Warmest greetings from the Marimba-projects team and artistic director Ludwig Albert
