The 41st Japan Wind and Percussion Competition — Marimba Final Results

The organizer has announced the results of the 41st Japan Wind and Percussion Competition marimba final, held at Tokyo College of Music’s TCM Hall on August 21, 2026. 小嶋義貴 received first prize. The official PDF publishes the ranking, performance order, each scorer’s marks, and the total score.

Prize recipients

• 小嶋義貴 — Marimba player. He graduated with distinction from Showa University of Music and completed its graduate school with the President’s Award. He won the 7th Australia Marimba Competition and the top prize at the 2022 38th Percussion Newcomer Concert.
• 勝田未来 — Marimba player. Tokyo College of Music identified her as a first-year percussion student in March 2026. She won the under-18 division of the International Marimba Festival Competition 2024–2025.
• 尾崎夏子 — Marimba player. Tokyo College of Music’s official competition record lists her as the 2021 first-prize winner in its wind and percussion division.
• 新田吏央 — Marimba player. Her artist profile describes her as a student in the marimba program of Toho Gakuen School of Music’s percussion department; she gave her first Tokyo solo concert in 2024.
• 石原弦季 — Marimba player. Utsunomiya Junior College High School’s music-department bulletin records him, an alumnus, as a guest artist at its 2025 concert.

Scorers

The score columns in the official results PDF name the following seven scorers.

• Atsushi Sugahara — Percussionist and visiting professor at Showa University of Music. The university notes that he served principally as principal timpanist with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra for 38 years.
• Kazuko Ogawa — Percussionist, a graduate of Tokyo University of the Arts and its graduate school. Her profile credits solo and chamber releases, teaching, and competition jury work.
• Momoko Kamiya — Marimba player, graduate of Tokyo University of the Arts and The Juilliard School. Her current profile lists her as a professor at Tokyo College of Music and a visiting professor at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music and Elisabeth University of Music.
• Makoto Nakura — New York-based solo marimba player. A 2026 Toho College of Music notice identifies him as its specially invited visiting professor.
• Tomohiro Nishikubo — Percussionist. His Tokyo Spring Music Festival profile identifies him as a Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra percussionist and teacher at Tokyo College of Music, Tamagawa University, and Showa University of Music.
• Fumito Nunoya — Marimba player. Adams’ current artist profile identifies him as a marimba instructor at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, performing in Europe, Japan, and the United States.
• Mutsuko Fujii — Marimba player. Her 2026 profile records study at the Tokyo University of the Arts High School of Music and Tokyo University of the Arts, and performances of Japanese composers’ works in 11 countries.
