Marimbafest 2025’s sixth solo and ensemble competition is scheduled for July 12–16 at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in Perth. The wider festival continues through July 19 with masterclasses and concerts.
Competition
The competition offers solo B Class (age 14 and under), solo A Class (ages 15–18), Open Class (all ages), and an ensemble category for two to ten players. It has first, semifinal, and final stages; entrants may participate in person or online. Up to four finalists may advance in each category, with three prizes available.
Jury
The announced faculty judging panel includes Ivan Trevino, Matthew Lau, Kana Omori, Machi Ishida, Eyo Li, Rebecca Lloyd-Jones, Adam Tan, and Paul Tanner. Adam Tan chairs the panel.
Admission
The public competition rounds are free to watch and require no ticket. Participation passes and registration are described on the organizer’s 2025 page .
