The final of the 8th Tokyo International Marimba Competition, organized by the Japan International League of Artists, is scheduled for August 7, 2025, at Gotanda Cultural Center Music Hall in Tokyo.
Applications and preliminary round
There is one marimba category, with no eligibility restrictions. Applications and preliminary-round recordings are accepted from April 1 through June 8. Each entrant submits one free-choice work within six minutes for audio screening.
Final round
Finalists perform one unaccompanied free-choice work within ten minutes. The detailed final-round schedule is communicated to those who pass the preliminary round.
Jury
The announced jurors are Kazuko Ogawa, Hidemi Murase, and Kazuhiko Hattori.
Fees and prizes
The preliminary-round fee is JPY 4,000 and the final-round fee is JPY 24,000. First place receives a cash award and certificate; places two through six and selected entrants receive certificates. Best Impression and Contemporary Music special awards are also offered.
