Jasmin Kolberg is a German marimbist, percussionist, educator, arranger, and composer. She completed classical percussion studies with Klaus Treßelt at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart in 2000, then studied marimba with Eric Sammut at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris and with Leigh Howard Stevens in New York. In 1999, she won third prize at the World Marimba Competition in Okaya, Japan.
Kolberg has performed at concerts and festivals in Europe, Asia, South Africa, and North America as a soloist, with symphony orchestras, and in chamber and percussion ensembles. She taught marimba at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland from 2007 to 2010 and at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim from 2008 to 2016, and has also served as a guest teacher at international music colleges. Her recordings include Animato (2001), Mosaique (2004), and the Jasmin Kolberg Trio album Detached (2020), which brings together marimba and vibraphone, accordion, and double bass. She has also developed the “Jasmin Kolberg Solo” series of multitone marimba mallets and has written compositions and arrangements for marimba and other percussion instruments.
