KUTSUNA Daichi is a marimbist and percussionist from Gamagori, Aichi. KUTSUNA graduated in percussion from Tokyo University of the Arts’ Department of Instrumental Music and completed graduate studies there. Teachers in marimba and percussion include Takafumi Fujimoto. KUTSUNA won first prize at the fourth Tokyo International Marimba Competition in 2021.

Premieres and revivals of contemporary music are a focus of KUTSUNA’s work. As a member of Ensemble Neige, KUTSUNA took part in the Japanese premiere of Boulez’s Dérive 2. On February 27, 2024 in Nagoya, KUTSUNA and Takeshi Kubota premiered Masanori Katoh’s THEY MAY BE ALIKE for Marimba and Percussion.

KUTSUNA has appeared as a guest player with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, alongside solo, ensemble and educational work. With Trio Loop, formed in 2019, KUTSUNA takes part in outreach in schools, libraries and hospitals, commissions from contemporary composers and revivals of existing works. KUTSUNA teaches marimba and classical percussion online at Kasame Music School.

On October 20, 2026, KUTSUNA Daichi is scheduled to perform in MARIMBA ENSEMBLE ECLAT vol.2 at Fuchu Forest Art Theater’s Vienna Hall.
