Ayami Okamura is a Kyoto-born marimba and percussion performer, educator, arranger, and composer based in Detmold, Germany. She teaches vibraphone, setup, marimba, and solo percussion at Hochschule für Musik Detmold.
Since 2015, Okamura has collaborated with percussionist Dan deSimone in the Shiki Percussion Duo. In 2024, they co-founded the Detmold Percussion Group. Her work includes solo performance, new commissions and premieres, arrangements, and composition for marimba, vibraphone, and percussion.
Okamura’s composition Neutral Tuning was published by Edition Svitzer in 2024. She was also part of the team that realized the Hochschule für Musik Detmold percussion department’s transcription of Georg Philipp Telemann’s Twelve Fantasias for Viola da Gamba Solo for marimba solo.
