Hiroshi Chu Okubo is a percussionist, composer, and educator whose principal instruments include hand percussion, electronic percussion, and drums. He studied at Anna Maria College in the United States and completed the Graduate Professional Diploma program at the Hartt School, University of Hartford. He has presented concerts and workshops in more than twenty countries.
Alongside performing, Okubo works in music production, composition and arrangement, television commercials, lectures, rhythm education for children, and guest instruction at universities. In the 1990s, he also performed with MIBURI, a wearable electronic instrument developed by Yamaha.
Okubo has written and supervised instructional books for snare drum, marimba, drums, cajón, and other percussion subjects. He serves as head of the HCO MUSIC Group and teaches at Tokyo School of Music Shibuya.
