Description
Written in 2024 for the Harald Genzmer Foundation composition competition, this four-to-five-minute duo gives the trombone a solo role over four-mallet marimba accompaniment. A free introduction leads to funk, a samba-like D-major passage and a jazz-waltz ending, largely within a D-minor framework. The composer stresses shared breathing, rests and tempo changes.
