Description

Kinetics explores the connection between physical movement and musical memory. Daniel Berg drew on his experience of remembering demanding marimba music through bodily gestures and mallet combinations rather than individual notes or chords. Commissioned as a solo for Nežka Prosenjak, the piece reflects her exceptional technique and distinctive musical touch. Its virtuosic passages draw on proprioception—the sense of the body’s position and movement—as an aid to memorization and performance.
