Reminiscence

Description

Composed in 2002 for solo marimba on a commission from Kunihiko Komori.

Komori gave the premiere on December 17, 2002, at Tokyo Opera City Recital Hall. The work lasts approximately twelve minutes.

Surges in the low register grow into waves of sound that approach and recede. The music embodies Hosokawa’s wish to uncover and express sounds rooted deep within his own body.
