Description
A trio for flute, cello and marimba by Noritaka Kondo.
The coined title joins denudation with alluvium: stripping away and building up as inseparable processes. Creating something from resources also entails irreversible depletion elsewhere. Kondo extends this idea beyond material production to the systems people construct and sustain in everyday life, translating it into musical time.
The flute, cello and marimba produce sound in different ways. Their distinct material textures intersect as the musical material undergoes repeated dismantling and accumulation, tracing a process of transformation.
