Description

This F-sharp minor piano piece closes the second book of Mendelssohn’s Songs without Words. Written in March 1835 as an album leaf for the pianist Henriette Voigt, who hosted a musical salon in Leipzig, it was published that spring as Op. 30 No. 6.

In a letter to a friend, Mendelssohn encouraged generous use of the pedal and a flowing performance that should not be too slow.
