I've used the VMAX mallets. Their two toned set might be something worth considering for Mirage. Depending on the hall, you might not really need a two toned set at all for that piece. I recommend VMAX knowing they're a smaller business out in Montreal vs. these large industries which are turning out lots of stuff at not such a high quality.
I think it's important not to invest so much time on the mallets...as most the discussions re: marimba on the internet seem to be things that have nothing to do with people or music...I thought I'd say your hands are going to have far more to do with your music than what's in them.
