I just performed Process of Invention this year at school. It's a wonderful composition and great fun to play, with tons of room for personal expression.
What I did was take it a section at a time, drilling each ostinato into muscle memory to the point where I could play each with my eyes closed (as certain deadlines approached more rapidly this goal was unfortunately not quite realized for every single ostinato). This allowed for more attention to be paid to expression of the melodic line and dynamic fluctuations, which is key in the more mechanical portions.
The composition itself flows excellently from section to section and after time and time again of playing the piece end to end, the finalization of the compositional circle felt more and more satisfying each time. Let me know how things progress, and if you have any other questions! I never got tired of practicing this piece every day. It has topped my list of pieces I enjoy playing the most.
