Tim, I think most of your questions have been addressed ... in a previous Rosauro post as well (Search the board for my previous comment, message 1538; you'll find others as well). I played it a couple times this past year, but with a piano accompanist. Not sure how difficult the orchestra part is.
If you want to play it up to speed, the third and especially fourth movement require a lot of endurance (left arm better be strong ... and if not, it WILL be by the time you're done learning the piece).
