Whatever you do, be very wary of malletech marimba mallets. The stevens 15 heavy core 2 tones sound great and work very well, but get absolutely demolished very easily. If you're of the Hinger school of timpani though, the touch tone aluminum timapni mallets are a must.
Mike Balters are pretty good, esp. the vibe mallets (although the burton good vibes are better) but they're a bit light for a Yamaha marimba, if that's what you play on. for marimba get the contemporary series (81-85 I think) the mediums are some of the best mediums I've ever had.
For xylo mallets get the malletech bob beckers.
Don't get the Van Sice two tones.
That's all the randomness I can come with for now!
