I have purchased 3 Padauk marimbas and noticed that musser now makes the M-240 4 1/3. The 4 oct. that musser makes is bad. Its got non graduated bars and the bars are so light, that they have had to create this system to keep them from jumping up and hitting the "black" bars. The adams 4 oct is nice, but its more money then the yamaha 4 1/3, and they sound and look and feel the same, but you get and extra 1/3 and pay less money then the adams. Ball park prices are as follows: musser 4 oct.=1500.00; Yamaha 4 1/3 is 2100.00; Adams 4 octis about 2500.00. So a rosewood musser is 5000.00 the kelon is 3800.00?? and the padauk is 2100.00, but we shopuld be talking sound. The padauk resonates less then the rosewood. But has a warmer sound then the kelon and the feel of real wood.
