I loved the Bethancourt mallets back in my early days and they were obviously the inspiration for the Encore line and every birch-handled mallet today. Deagan sold them in two hardness grades, Andante and Scherzo, but I collected at least 4 or 5 gradations. Unfortunately, the raw latex breaks down over time. The only remaining set I have is one that I wound with yarn (probably preserving the latex to some degree).

I haven't seen any information on Bethancourt personally in a very long time.
