Hi guys,
I own both an Adams and a Malletech, both 5 octaves. Although nothing in life is perfect, I have performed recitals, chamber music and concerti on both - I have to tell you that in my persoanl opinion (I repeat, personal opinion) Malletech projects a fatter sound on all registers, except, perhaps, the very last octave. You can get a huge fundamental on lower octave by playing about 5 cm off the centre of the bar, which makes (in my opinion) a more focused tone for listeners in large halls and prevents from cracking bars - in fact I have played dozens of concerti on Malletech recently and not even one bar split.
On another hand, Adams can be quite nice for chamber music and does have a cleaner bass register, on rapid passages. But all this is highly personal and depends on repertoire.
All best, keep hitting away :-)
