For this piece, I would say medium or medium soft mallets. My impression is that the piece should be very smooth, and you might not want to separate the notes too much, but that is just my personal interpretation of the piece. Another reason is because its played higher on the marimba, so a comination of high notes and hard mallets might make it sound too staccato. But this is my personal interpretation. Anyone else have any other views?
Or you can just listen to Keiko, listen to her approach is, I can't remember. Hope this helps!
