yes the two-tones are no more for firth. an no offense to anyone, but I have seen many sets of stevens mallets over the years and the most common factor in short life span(that i've witnessed) is bad strokes or bar placement, and also storing them properly. Yes, there are some that just plain wear out, but this is in general. So, check out your technique, and when you put them away put ziploc bags over the heads if you don't already.
