I picked up an idea from Virtual Max about 6 years ago when they were out at my university doing a concert and a clinic. Dan Pancaldi talked about learning lines with large leaps that are written for one hand by doing deadstrokes on every note. This has to be done slowly, but by playing the note and pressing the mallet into the bar momentarily emphasizes the muscle memory needed to play the line up to speed. I've tried this technique for several different pieces and found it far more effective than slowing way down and gradually speeding up. But that's me.
