Ice,
Just so you know, the recordings you hear online in no way reflect what it actually sounds like in a club, but you'll have to trust me on that. I use a pickup system that is created by a company called K and K sound. Each bar has a transducer (trigger) and that is how it is amplified. But the system alone was not loud enough, and the overall quality of the sound was not pleasing. So, I just bought a FISHMAN pre-amp/equalizer that gives me more control over the volume, brilliance, and compression of my sound. I now feel quite satisfied with the amount of control I have over my sound. I believe that it has made my Paduk 4.3 Musser sound like a Rosewood Malletech. But that is for listeners to decide.
As far as the warmth of the sound goes, when I was only using microphones the sound stunk. It was uneven, never loud enough, and there was no resonance or warmth. I think with my new system that the fullness is now able to be amplified.
