Drummers World occassionally has marimbas that you can try out. They almost always have at least one, and at times two. You could also try a music school if you know anyone that attends LaGuardia High School or Juilliard to show you around as a guest. Another way, if you're desperate, is to call Carroll studios and rent a marimba for an hour in one of their studios.
