Hi,

About timp sticks: call me fundamentalist, but as I mentioned for marimba, I found that better pratice sticks than pure cork and felt (such as Vic Firth ET4 and many other similar models) are hard to find. If you get to develop a nice round sound, great rolls and evenness with these, you will find the benefits of such work later on, for sure. And remember, although I am not an orchestral percussionist, I do know and work with many and I never seem to have heard a conductor ask for a softer stick. Clarity and intonation and nearly 100% of orchestral timpani playing. And there is keeping time, forgot about that :-)

All best,

Pedro
