I heard somewhere that Ms. Abe uses two tone mallets -- I have no idea if she does or not, but I really like the versatility I can get with them. I've experimented with several differnt types of medium-hard mallets, and I didn't like the tone produced when compared to the two-tone mallets.
Currently I am using Malletech LS20 mallets.
