Hi Marimba.orgers,
I was wondering when programming a solo marimba performance, say 45 min. in length, should I include other instrumentalists or use other percussion instruments to vary the sound for my audience. Could the timber of the marimba, even with varying styles of music and mallets, be too much of the same sonority for that length of time?
All the solo marimba recitals I have seen in the past have always had a guest performer with them or used other percussion instruments as part of a composition. Has anyone given a recital with just marimba? The performance I am thinking of would be at church or a recital hall not as part of a Junior or Senior recital.
