I would say, don't buy it...your college will undoubtedly have a marimba or two laying about just waiting to be practiced on...heck my college, Concordia, has about 15 just begging to be played. Plus, padouk bars don't sound all that great, and the range is kind of a problem too, the literature you'll be playing will at least need 4 octaves I'm assuming (Unless you're doing Creston)..so I'd not buy that one..if you really want to get a marimba though, I think I saw a vintage Deagan 4 octave Rosewood for about 600 on Ebay..just a thought
