I wouldn't worry about change in climate affecting the instrument. My mom grew up in Chicago, IL with her instrument.. and brought it to California about 20 years ago. The now almost 100 year old marimba is in wonderful condition. Plus, performers travel everywhere with their instruments, and if the weather caused these problems, we would have a whole lot of marimba's that go to waste. As far as caring for it, it really depends on what kind of clear coat is on the keys, if any... I would ask the person you are purchasing it from. -Jenni Lou
