Jennifer -

There's a published solo by Dave Samuels, "Footpaths," which is a solo he recorded on one of his early solo albums. If you can handle "Nyack," you should be able to handle this solo.

Also, Bill Molenhof published a book of marimba solos in the late 80s - unfortunately, the title escapes me at the moment. This text didn't get the exposure that Bill's vibraphone solos have gotten, but I believe it's still available thru Steve Weiss. Or, contact Bill through his web site: http://www.molenhof.com. I read through it back when I was in college, and I thought at the time that there were some good pieces in the book, but I suspect that its lack of popularity was/is combination of marimbists looking at it and thinking "Ewww, 'jazz!'," and vibraphonists looking at it and thinking, "Ewww, 'marimba!'" (Just my opinion, take it FWIW...)
