Check "the malletshop" website, on AOL. He often has a number of Deagan instruments for sale, and you could oompare pricing. I got my first marimba (a Deagan Diana, No. 40, which was made around '40) in wonderful condition, for $2500 (USD). Depending on the range, condition ,model, and how rare the instrument is, the price will fluctuate. If you're looking for something to play, you're probably competing wit people who are looking for something to collect (on ebay at least). If you're a student, sometimes origional owners have a softer heart about selling to someone who's going to use the instrument, rather than someone who's going for pawn it off.
Take care! (Deagan = great bars though, you can't beat the aging!)
-- also, Deagan went out of business a ways back, Gilberto Serna works in that factory in Chicago though. You can find "Deagan" Chimes made by Yamaha. For whatever a name's worth (Yamaha bought the n ame)
