♦備考: The dawning of a new day for the professional folkloric music ensemble based in Kansas City since 1991, the June 1st, 2004 rising of Marimba Sol de Chiapas (Sun of Chiapas or Chiapan Sun) is the evolution of the group started by Laurence Kaptain in 1988 as Marimba Yajalon. With the group premier performance having taken place during a private event at John Knox Village in Lees Summit, the Kansas City public debut is Sunday, July 4th, 2004 from 2pm to 5pm, near the corner of 47th & Wornall. Marimba Sol de Chiapas, John Currey--Director, Jim Schank, Jim Clanton, and Nick Urbom, will appear as a part of the summer outdoor live music series, The Plaza LIVE!
