I went to Nashville(PASIC) with checkbook in hand, and needed to order two 5 octave marimbas. I played or discussed every 5.0 that was there. I remembered seeing Matts(Coe) write up in the Percussive notes several years ago, and was excited to see them there. You know how loud the display room can get, so there was no comparing side to side, but I did get to play them all. The Coe marimba sounded fine, but was just as much money if not more then some of the others. $20,000 is a lot to spend so when I asked Matt about tuneing he said he was self taught. I just didnt like that anwser so I went to the next booth. Both of mine were going in front rooms of houses so extra wide bars in the lower octave was not nessasary, and Rons reputation at marimba 1, plus his convention price sealed the deal. I ordered two low fives, weeks later. Scott Kitchen S.E. OHIO
