I would just like to open up a discussion about six mallet playing. What do you think about it? Is it "unneccessary?" I feel that it there could be some great choral-like music that could be composed/performed in an affective way. The only downside would be that you are limited in interval movement. Though, I only know how to old the mallets and not play, so I could be VERY wrong about the mallets not being able to move, so please correct me if I am wrong.
But this is all stuff that I THINK is good and bad about it. But I don't see many marimbists today who practice this. Is there a reason? Any opinions?
