Pretty sure C.O. Musser made and played on the first ones in America by a company, not sure about overseas or real "manufactered" ones like we know of. I remember that Musser made them but had no use for it so it took another couple decades until LHS picked the idea up again and made it happen in the U.S. Good person to ask would be Dana Kimble, but I don't know his e-mail address or where to find it.
