yea those are the notes Stevens wrote down. Here the are:
1) Matched, medium-hard, multi-toned mallets that sound clean at the top of the instrument, but not brittle on the bottom, (e.g. LS15H). Mallets are numbered left to right, low to high. 2) For the most clear visual delineation of this recurring figure, use the two inner mallets so that audience can see, as well as hear the contrary motion. Either left or right hand works on the sharps. 3) This and similar patterns may be done with just 2 and3, or with the outer mallets playing the outer two pitches of the pattern and 2 and 3 performing the others. 4) In this transposition, using 43 for the expanding figure may cause mallet tangles. If you find this so, try using only mallet 3 for the expanding figure. (This asterisk is not labelled, I think he meant to place it at measure 222) 5) Hand to hand or try 342132. (This asterisk is also mislabelled as *3 in the score at measure 301)
