That is in awesome gift idea! I agree that Steve Weiss is a great place to look. Also try Percussion Source. One of my students has a Vancore 4 1/3. It is a great instrument for a high school student. Her parents bought it from www.malletshop.com. Are you looking for a new or a used instrument? I believe that mallet shop deals in used in addition to new instrumnets. Fall Creek Marimbas sells some used instruments. There is a data base of instrument reviews on this site.
