I have two sets of Malletech mallets, the yellow/brown Concert CN14s and the white Stevens LS15H.

My hands tend to get very sweaty for some reason, and the shafts of my CN14s have turned dark brown and coarse to the point of being uncomfortable to use. (I've only had them 3-4 months) The other set is beginning to show these symptoms too.

I have over 20 other pairs of mallets and none of them are showing these signs. Of course, none of the rest seem to be that type of wood. Are Malletechs just bad, or mallets with wooden shafts? Is there anything I can do to make them better, like putting some sort of adhesive tape on it?

Also, this is unrelated, but does anyone know a good way I can mark my mallets (for identification purposes) without damaging them? Thanks.
