James, I guess that idea i had was to get general reviews of mallets. I know it is subjective. But I still think it could be helpful. For instance, The WU14 is heavy than the LS15H, but is softer. The mallet produces a very full fundamental tone, not very much attack. Very little contact sound, as one gets with say a malletech concerto mallet, except in the upper range. The mallet heads themselves are quite large, but are shaped in an elongated ovular fashion, rather than the ball shape other mallets use. As with most malletech marimba mallets, the shafts are birch, and have an extremely light finish, just enough to keep the wood from splintering, but not so much that it slips in the hands of a player with sweaty hands(ME!!)
Does this make more sense??
