Dear Bill, dear Behzad,

Bill suggestion in great - in fact, I have performed (and have seen several colleagues) perform Japanese repertoire with hard rubber core mallets. The Van Sice model (at least the ones I have, which are 10 years old and still hand made!) I have used for Mirage is 16's - I felt these allow me to have a strong "baritone"/muscular timbre, and still allow for velvet like rolls, using the very tips - in fact I do most of my playing exploring as much as I can all angles of the mallet heads. There is so much colour one can find with stroke control/mallet control that I have been using less and less variety of mallets, as time passes by.

All good wishes,

Pedro
