Ever so glad you said it -- indeed, percussionists get so geeky with gadgets and are often miles away from the pure bliss of music making. So often in masterclasses I mention phrasing, haupstimme, nebenstimme, line, breathing, direction, etc, etc -- and often the respose is "ok -- do I change my mallets for the brand new (insert favorite marimba mallet model here!)?".

PS - Adams with tuneable resonators could be interesting, although I have played some new adams on tour recently and they were ridiculously out of tune! Mine is 10 years old and sounds better :-)
