Yes, making that first big purchase is significant, I agree. However, if you consider the Malletech Stil(l)etto, then Malletech, Marimba One, Adams, Yamaha 5100, et al are all good instruments and fairly interchangable. Provided you get a good set of bars, you are not going to go wrong with any of these instruments.

Thus far, I have owned seven different marimbas. You can always make a change later -- not even LHS honored the promise "to play this marimba for the rest of my life!"
