Hans Werner Henze's "Five Scenes from the Snow Country" (1978) was commissioned by Michiko Takahashi and premiered by her in Tokyo in 1982, I gave the U.S. premiere in NYC in 1984.
There was a recording out on a German percussion complilation CD, but I don't have the catalog information.
In my opinion, it's not a terribly successful piece.
