Hey all,
Why is 442 the standard now? why not 440? I don't mind scientific/historical details if it helps.

No idea. It seemed to start with Japan and Europe manufacturers and drifted to USA, along with some orchestras shifting upward. I have my instruments retuned to 440. I've never heard a decent rationale for 442.
