Applications will open on July 1, 2026, for the 2nd Keiko Abe International Marimba Competition, organized by the Keiko Abe Foundation.
Keiko Abe is one of the most influential figures in the history of the marimba. Through her pioneering technique, artistry, and advocacy, she helped transform the marimba from a relatively “folk” instrument into a fully recognized concert instrument. This competition continues that legacy by supporting the next generation of marimbists and encouraging the global development of marimba performance.
