Funnily, that is the opposite observation than Stevens had, I suppose. In his book, he states versatility are:
Traditional < Burton < Musser.
Of course, that is his strongly opinionated statement, but there are views like that, too.
In principle, it is not the grip (or how you hold) per se that matters. It is how you use them, I suppose. If you felt much tension when you were using Burton grip, then you probably were not doing it right.
