Bottom line, I would agree - musical concerns take precedence. Many of us have already explored the available options in terms of four-mallet technique, and for some, new threads on the topic may be redundant at best. However, not all visitors to the marimba.org site have reached that stage of development, and not all students have access to teachers fluent in all major four-mallet techniques. Some may find a discussion of the various techniques to be valuable - beginners especially.
I don't understand why both subjects, music and technique, can't be discussed. I didn't realize it was an either/or proposition on this board. Is Nat running out of bandwidth for the marimba.org site, requiring us to limit the topics of various threads?
Stout's variation is also in there somewhere (cross, two fingers), but I'm not clear on which mallet is on top of the other.
