I just read an article at the Yamaha website by Ney Rosauro, who kind of has his own technique, but still says about the Burton grip (somewhat paraprasing): "...the three main technical problems of the [Burton] grip: 1. the constant "click" produced...; 2. the lack of wrist torque to play one-hand rolls...; 3. the lack of four-mallet marimba roll possibilities...." Here is the article if you want to read it (its in PDF) http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/Documents/BandOrchestra/Percussion_Tips_Rosauro.pdf. So I am not saying "well Rosauro says it, so it must be right", but these were some of the views I had, and then stumbled upon this article, that kind of resembles what I said about the Burton grip. And I don't think that its a coincidence. ~Behzad
